4/30 Sydney Special Lecture
“Next Generation of Digital Procurement: Beyond Industry 4.0”
The construction sector is a key driver of global economic growth, yet it remains one of the least digitalised industries, leading to inefficiencies and low productivity. This digital lag hampers sustainability, industrialization, and resilience across the sector leading to poorer outcomes.
At the Centre for Smart Modern Construction (C4SMC) at Western Sydney University, we are tackling these challenges by developing digital solutions that enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability while strengthening industrialization and resilience against social, environmental, and economic disruptions.
Digital procurement serves as the backbone for acquiring built assets of all scales through complex supply chains. This presentation will explore the current state of digitalization in construction and the transformative potential of blockchain as a next-generation methodology for secure and reliable digital procurement. It will also highlight projects leveraging AI, blockchain, and digital twins to drive innovation, laying the foundation for digital procurement in the Industry 4.0 era and beyond.
